ORASIQUE is a free-improv quartet based in Mexico, between Mexico City and Oaxaca de Juárez, and is composed by:
Don Malfon: Saxophonist from Barcelona, Don Malfon is one of the most active Catalan musicians in the world of improvisation at a national and international level, having released over 40 albums. He has collaborated with artists such as John Edward, Agustí Fernández, Barry Guy, Ingebrigt Håker Flaten, Marco Eneidi, Nuno Rebelo, among many others.
Misha Marks: Born and raised in Aotearoa New Zealand, Misha has been part of the Mexico City soundscape since emigrating there in 2008. He plays latarra (a homemade electric guitar built from an old metallic first-aid kit), baritone horn and tuba, exploring both traditional and experimental approaches to the instruments. He is a member of a diverse range of projects in the Mexican capital such as Generación Espontánea, Carlos Marks, Zancudos Tadeo, Ahsim Skram Triteto and Orasique and has performed all around the orb in festivals and venues in Indonesia, Europe, USA, Sri Lanka, Latin America and New Zealand.
Fernando Barrios, drummer and percussionist from El Salvador, he has radicated in Mexico since 2007.
Fernando has made incursions into different projects and music styles, ranging from jazz, popular music, latinamerican music, free improvisatiom, etc.
He has collaborated with reknown artists and has played important stages and festivals in Mexico, Guatemala, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Colombia and Holland.
Marco Albert, Italian musician and improviser who has been developing his practice in such fields as electronic music, improvised music and audiovisual performances.
He is among the founding members of Otolab, a pioneering audiovisual collective laboratory in Milano, Italy. His interest in improvised music and in improvisation as a transversal practice and language, has led him to perform in different contexts and festivals, in Italy and Europe, Canada, USA and in Mexico, where he currently resides. Founder and co-director of El Huacal, an independent and autonomous space/entity that promotes concert series, performances and art shows in the city of Oaxaca (MX).
